In both mixed martial arts and boxing, performance enhancing drugs are a serious issue with deep repercussions for fighters caught using. In recent history, the issue has greatly impacted a number of high profile fighters and promotions: Josh Barnett's positive test acted as the catalyst for the demise of Affliction, Sean Sherk was stripped of his belt following a positive result, and testing procedures are holding up a highly anticipated boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. In the press conference following this weekend's "UFC 108: Evans vs. Silva," UFC President Dana White discussed his thoughts on modern drug testing practices and their impact on fighting sports.

Following his October 27 withdrawal from a heavyweight title defense at UFC 106, Brock Lesnar (4-1) has remained fairly silent in regards to his health and the future of his fighting career. Dana White recently expanded on the fighter's condition and what might happen with the heavyweight title.
White again confirmed that Lesnar was diagnosed with diverticulitis following a serious bout with mononucleosis. He also confirmed that Lesnar underwent minor surgery in November and also has other undisclosed medical issues. On why more has not been disclosed, White said of Lesnar "He's a private guy. He doesn't want anybody talking about it."
